My story

My Grandma was a seamstress and professional tailor and she was an inspiration to me. I grew up watching her work and being involved in her process of making bespoke garments and I was bewitched. I knew from an early age I wanted to work in fashion and I followed in her footsteps as it was in my DNA and I like to believe always written in the stars. 

Fashion took me around the world to working in Lisbon, Portugal, Sweden, across Europe and eventually into the world of Haute Couture as a Junior designer at Ralph and Russo in London. All of my experience working internationally and in London can be seen and felt in my work where I have taken inspiration from the world around me and brought it into my designs. 

I want to bring all the couture and tailoring techniques and wonderful creative ideas I have gained from across the globe now to the UK and to my local community here in Yorkshire. I settled here as I find the beautiful rolling hills and nature such an inspiration to my work and design aesthetic.

I fell in love with couture and wanted to create my brand to share my knowledge, passion and experience with others through a luxury service. I design every garment taking into consideration the customers wishes, capturing there soul, imagination and personality which is what sets Alyona Malai apart. 

Just like my Grandmother before me, I don’t work with throw away fast fashion, I create designs using quality craftsmanship that are heirlooms for the future.
